The Level 3 T Level in Construction: Design, Surveying, and Planning is a comprehensive two-year course, equipping students with practical skills and knowledge for the construction industry.

The curriculum covers design principles, project management, and surveying techniques. Students gain hands-on experience through industry placements, working alongside professionals to apply theoretical learning to real-world projects. The course also includes modules on sustainability, building regulations, and digital technology in construction.

The course is designed to prepare students for careers in architecture, surveying, and civil engineering, or further education such as university degrees or higher apprenticeships in construction and the built environment.

The course content includes:

Core Knowledge and Skills:

Understanding construction principles, materials, and technologies.
Learning about the built environment and its impact on society and the environment.
Design:

Architectural design and drawing techniques.
Using CAD software for creating and modifying building designs.
Principles of sustainable design and construction practices.
Surveying:

Techniques in land, building, and quantity surveying.
Using surveying equipment and software to collect and analyse data.
Understanding and applying building regulations and standards.
Planning:

Project management skills, including planning, scheduling, and risk assessment.
Understanding procurement processes and construction contracts.
Health and safety regulations in construction projects.
Digital Technology:

Implementing BIM (Building Information Modelling) in construction projects.
Using digital tools for project management and design.
Industry Placement:

Gaining real-world experience through significant industry placements.
Applying theoretical knowledge in practical settings.
Networking with professionals and understanding industry workflows.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
