Sector Work Academy Programmes - also known as SWAPs - are designed to help employers fill vacancies with a skilled workforce. These are short 2-3-week intensive programmes for adults aged 19+ who are looking to upskill for work in specific jobs and industries. We work with some fantastic employers such as KCOM, RESQ, Precision, Hull Truck and the Deep to support their recruitment. These programmes are FREE to the employer and participants.
The programmes are designed with the employer to ensure that all participants have the skills needed to gain one of their jobs meaning that we can guarantee an interview to each person who completes the course. These courses are an ideal way for anyone who has been out of work for a while; or wants to change sector to develop the vital skills for that industry and employer and know they are guaranteed an interview for a job.
In Hull, we also do intensive upskilling training for new and technical growth sectors, such as Digital and Full Fibre, via Skills Bootcamps. These are intensive training courses, lasting 6-8 weeks, designed to build up essential sector-specific skills and knowledge based on local employer demand. They are developed and designed with employers to help fill specific recruitment shortages - there are guaranteed job interviews for those who are unemployed.
Employers can work with us to commission something to upskill their staff or to help fill new vacancies. Where the programmes are for unemployed people, there is no charge and for employed staff the funding covers 70% of the cost.
