Travel and Tourism students put on a fantastic 'Around the World' taster day for Stepney Primary School as part of their work experience with The Children’s University this week.

After arriving at the college and being tasked with creating their very own passports, the children were boarded onto the college's mock air cabin on the fifth floor before heading to discover more about five different destinations in the world - Italy, Japan, Mexico, USA and Egypt - learning key historical and geography facts.

The students put together a range of activities including crafts, food tasting, face painting, quizzes and fact-finding. The feedback was heart-warming with one child stating: "It’s been the best day of my life."

This has proved to be a very worthwhile work experience for the students who have increased their skills in teamworking, prioritising, creative thinking, communication and problem-solving. Not only has it provided them with that extra special CV booster to complement their qualification, it will also give them a competitive edge in the job market when looking for employment after completing their course.

Tutor Beverley Watson said: "I am so proud of my students, especially so after hearing the praise and feedback from the teachers at Stepney Primary on the day and seeing how much enjoyment the children had in participating in the wide range of activities put on by the group. A huge well done to everyone involved for what was a fantastic day!"
