Our Pre-Internship programme is a one-year induction course in employability for young people with a disability or learning difficulty. The course is designed to provide you with all the relevant skills and knowledge to progress onto our full Supported Internship Programme. You will work alongside our Job Coaches to develop your self-confidence and practical skills through a series of activities designed with your individual needs in mind, including travel training and one to one mentoring. You will have the opportunity to complete a 60-hour work placement with a local employer while benefitting from our in-work coaching, and make the most of career hub which will offer you expertise and guidance for seeking employment.

THe Details

The Hull College pre Supported Internship Programme is available for young people aged 16-24, who have faced difficulties progressing into work due to a disability or learning difficulty. The course provides the opportunity to gain skills and experience within a real work setting, whilst developing knowledge and understanding of work skills at college. With the support of a Job Coach, you will complete a pre internship with a local employer for a minimum of 60 hours in your chosen area, such as leisure, gardening, animal care, retail, catering, health and social care and more. We offer specialised job coaching, with a personalised programme tailored to suit your individual learning needs and career aspirations. Through a range of support activities, we will help to build your confidence and develop your communication skills, to give you all the necessary tools to enhance your employability. We will offer guidance for seeking employment through our career hub and develop your independence through travel training and coaching in the workplace. Alongside this you will complete a City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Employability. The pre internship helps you develop the confidence, skills and self-assurance needed to move forward into the world of work.

UCAS provides support for young people making post-18 choices, as well as mature learners, by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

We support 1.5 million students every year to explore entering higher education, employment and apprenticeships and manage almost three million applications, from around 700,000 people each year, for full-time undergraduate courses at over 380 universities and colleges across the UK.

It is important to note that when you enrol on an Access to HE courseyou can apply for an Advanced Learner Loan to help with the costs of a course at a college or training provider in England.

Loan eligibility does not depend on your income and there are no credit checks.

Check if you’re eligible before you apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.

Your loan will be written off if you then sign up for a Higher Education course AND you have completed in full the Access to HE course.
