Why did you choose to study at Hull College?
I started in Year 10 where I came to the College once a week to do my NVQ Level 1. It was a great place to learn so I decided to continue at the College after I left school.
What did you enjoy most about studying at Hull College?
The tutors were incredibly helpful and there were opportunities to further my skills in competitions across the country, including WorldSkills.
What has been your career path up until now?
I began as a trainee chef and worked my way up. I am now a commis chef at 1884 in Hull.
What does your job involve?
Preparing and producing a wide range of meals to a high standard. Currently I work under the supervision of the chef de partie and will rotate to different sections each night.
What has been the highlight of your career so far?
Getting through to the WorldSkills World Final in Abu Dhabi, and being able to represent the UK on the world stage.
What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
I hope to open my own patisserie.
Have your studies helped you to achieve your career aims?
I believe my learning at the College has enhanced my career opportunities.
