The Advanced Learner Loan is a loan similar to degree study loans, but for the further education sector.
The bursary is available to learners aged 19+ who are enrolled on further education courses, either full-time or part-time with a household income of £25,000 and under. Funding is not available for learners on apprenticeships, in higher education or full-cost courses were other funding rules may apply. All applicants must also meet the residency criteria.
If you are eligible, you can receive financial support to help pay towards course-related costs such as essential equipment/kits and books, essential trips, travel (full-time learners only) and childcare. You may also be entitled to a fortnightly payment into your bank account. Those who enrol onto a part-time course are entitled to a payment of £1 per guided learning hour, which is paid termly.
If approved, and you have applied for the childcare element, we will pay up to £38 a day to our Nursery or Ofsted registered childcare provider if we cannot accommodate your timetable. Please note, if you are aged 19 as at the 31st August 2020, you will need to apply to care to learn for childcare support. Full details can be found by visiting www.gov.uk/care-to-learn.
Attendance of 85% and above must be maintained to continue being eligible for the bursary.
To apply, please complete the bursary application form and return together with all the required supporting evidence which is listed on the form (must be dated within the last three months).
