Future Thinking Now

Industry placements are a voluntary part of curriculum for all students aged 16-18 studying a Level 2 or Level 3 course.

Gaining work experience in your chosen area of study is vitally important to help boost your employability after college and ensure that you are better prepared to be successful and productive in the workplace.

Your placement will see you spend a minimum of 45 days or 315 hours working for an employer in a role directly relevant to your course. It will provide you with the opportunity to develop your career choices, get a taste of work and put your learning into practice in the workplace to ensure you finish your course with the skills, knowledge and expertise that employers are looking for and desire.

What are the benefits?

FOR STUDENTS

  • Get a head start by working within an industry or sector that you are interested in
  • Gain industry-specific skills and further your knowledge outside of classroom learning
  • Take a step forward professionally by developing your CV
  • Leave college knowing you have the qualifications, technical skills and experience employers are looking for
  • Progression route into an apprenticeship, full-time employment, or university

FOR BUSINESSES

  • Resolve skills shortages and help grow and develop local learners
  • Cost-effective recruitment and create a talent pool of new employees
  • Demonstrate a social consciousness and boost corporate reputation by giving back to local young talent
  • Shape the direction of technical education within your industry
